The Honorable John Graham - 05/20/10

Almost finished with John Graham portrait. Have some touch ups and color fixings to do.

Bryce Reynolds- 22x28 unfinished. February 27, 2010

I am in the middle of finishing the shirt on this. It is plaid. Plaid is not fun to paint. But when it is done it will be well worth it. It took me awhile to get the sweater correct.
I have been going back and forth trying to get my old house moved out of and finished selling it so I have been kept from working constantly on this. I should be finished in two weeks as I am going to Florida to visit my family this week.

Portrait study of my dad

This is not a full portrait but just a study of my dad. This is the first I have ever tried a portrait in oils. I wanted to see if I could do what I wanted with oils. I found I can paint with them but I am using the same style and techniques that I used with watercolor. It is not a classical technique and quite frankly it is my own technique. This is not as detailed as I would have wanted it but that also is fine with me. I found that I can get the details I want when I paint.
Still Life with Fruit

I did this piece to practice on controlling oil paints as well as working on folds on materials and textures of fruit. This is basically a study. It is my first attempt at an oil painting that I actually spent a little time on. It basically did what I wanted it to do.

Farm house- 1993
I did this painting in the early 1990s for a co-worker of mine, Mary Loftus. Although its not too involved, I always liked the character of it. It's a watercolor and unlike most of my other watercolors, it is kind of painted like a watercolor. I feel the strokes have some character.
It's a picture of her grandmother's farm house. She owns the piece still.
The glare in the lower left is from the camera.
